NEBOSH partnered with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to create the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work
According to NICE, 3.7 million working days are lost each year in the UK because of work-related stress, anxiety and depression, costing £28.3 billion. This qualification will ensure learners are trained in HSE’s current approach to managing and controlling stress at work. Upon completion, learners will have the knowledge to be able to recognise the causes and effects of stress; identify work-related stress risks within your workplace; and apply suitable interventions to prevent and reduce stress.
The course is suitable for anyone responsible for managing people or for managing workplace stress and is designed to help delegates identify and reduce workplace stressors to create a positive, healthier workplace.

NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work is suitable for anyone responsible for managing people or for managing workplace stress. This could include:

Pre-requisites
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Learners should have a suitable standard of English language to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work course covers:
Key Principles
- Understand common terms and the relationships between work-related stress, pressure and mental health/mental illness
- Understand the prevalence and costs of stress and mental ill-health in the workplace
- Recognise the signs and effects of work-related stress
- Understand the responsibilities of employers to workers relating to work-related stress
Identification of Risk
- Understand the causes of workplace stress
- Apply the HSE’s Management Standards
Implementing interventions
- Develop practical options to address and reduce workplace stressors
- Develop practical options to manage effects of stress and its impact in the workplace
- Develop ways to continually improve the workplace
Duration
The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Managing Stress at Work course has a minimum of seven taught hours and one hour for the assessment.
Assessment
A multiple-choice assessment is completed at the end of the course. You will be presented with a realistic workplace scenario, and will answer multiple-choice questions focused on the principles learnt throughout the course.
Outcome / Next Steps
A certificate will be provided upon successful completion of the course.
