NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety - E-Learning
The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a globally respected qualification. The qualification represents the role of a real-life health and safety professional, giving learners everything they need to know and do to make their workplace safer. The qualification is relevant to every workplace and is ideal for managers, supervisors, as well as anyone with health and safety responsibilities or in a health and safety role.

Who should attend?
This course is suitable for those starting a career in health and safety as well as managers and supervisors with health and safety responsibilities.
Pre-requisites
There are no formal entry requirements. However, NEBOSH recommends a good standard of English (equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher), as learners need to understand complex concepts and produce written assessments.
Course content
The NEBOSH International General Certificate focuses on the practical actions required to manage health and safety in the workplace. Equivalent to an A-Level on the National Qualification Framework, the course consists of two units:
IG1 – Management of health and safety
- Why we should manage workplace health and safety
- How health and safety management systems work and what they look like
- Managing risk – understanding people and processes
- Health and safety monitoring and measuring
IG2 – Risk assessment
- Physical and psychological health
- Musculoskeletal health
- Chemical and biological agents
- General workplace issues
- Work equipment
- Fire
- Electricity
Throughout the course, learners build the skills and confidence to apply their knowledge in real-life workplace settings.
Duration
The course includes 65 taught hours and approximately 40 hours of private study and background reading.
Assessment
IG1 is assessed via an open book exam, which is administered on-line & must be completed during a set 24-hour window. IG2 is a risk assessment carried out in the learner’s workplace. Learners receive an overall refer, pass, credit or distinction grade following their open book examination and a pass grade for the practical assessment.

On successful completion, you will receive the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Online, or eLearning, programmes can be studied at any time, from anywhere, from any device. For this course, you will have 3 months to complete the training.
