Make UK, in partnership with Inspired Energy, has launched the Manufacturing Sector Net Zero Roadmap to support manufacturers on their journey to net zero by 2050. 

With backing from all major sub-sectors - including food and drink, electronics, chemicals, paper, metals, and steel - the industry has committed to a 67% cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 (from a 2018 baseline), equivalent to 48 million tonnes of CO₂e.

This roadmap highlights the critical role manufacturing will play in decarbonising the UK economy by driving innovation, developing green technologies, and delivering low-carbon products and services. 

Despite the challenges, net zero presents a major opportunity for the sector - and manufacturers are ready to lead the way. 

Available resources
