HMRC ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • HMRC has this week published a contact list to help businesses find an EU customs agent if they require one to continue to trade post-Brexit: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/list-of-customs-agents-and-fast-parcel-operators
  • HMRC has this week auto-enrolled 95,000 VAT-registered companies for Transitional Simplified Procedures (TSP) which will make importing after Brexit on October 31st much simpler. All importers will need to be TSP registered so if you are not VAT-registered remember to sign up now
     
  • New government funding - now available to help businesses recruit customs staff. Up to £3000 on recruitment, then recoup half the salary. This can be done in conjunction with the grants already available for training staff to make customs declarations and procedures and make improvements to IT systems. Read more here
